QR 678 for Hair Loss: What Is It and What Does the Evidence Say?

Hair-loss treatment has changed considerably over the last few years.

Alongside established medical treatments, patients are now hearing about procedures involving growth factors, peptides, PRP and other regenerative approaches.

One name that increasingly appears in this conversation is QR 678.

So what exactly is it?

And what does the evidence actually tell us?

What Is QR 678?

QR 678 refers to an injectable hair-growth formulation containing a combination of growth factors. QR 678 Neo uses biomimetic peptides corresponding to components used in the original formulation.

The proposed rationale is that these factors may support the hair follicle environment and encourage hair growth.

Laboratory and clinical studies have reported promising findings, but the evidence base is still developing.

That distinction matters.

Promising does not mean universally proven.

What Does the Research Say?

There are several clinical studies investigating QR 678 and QR 678 Neo.

One prospective comparative study involving 50 men with androgenetic alopecia compared QR 678 with PRP and reported improvements in hair-related measures after treatment. However, the study was relatively small and the authors themselves noted that further comparative research with longer follow-up would be valuable.

A larger multicentre open-label study involving 2,428 patients also reported improvements in hair density and other measures after QR 678 Neo treatment. However, because the study was open-label and did not use a placebo-controlled comparison group, the findings should be interpreted in that context.

A 2024 systematic review of minimally invasive injectable treatments for androgenetic alopecia described the overall findings for growth-factor approaches as satisfactory while also noting the need to consider the quality and design of the underlying studies.

Is QR 678 Better Than PRP?

This is where marketing claims can get ahead of the evidence.

There is a published comparative study in male androgenetic alopecia that reported better outcomes for QR 678 than PRP on several measures.

But that doesn't mean QR 678 is automatically the better treatment for every patient.

Different studies involve different patient populations, treatment protocols, outcome measures and study designs.

More importantly, the appropriate treatment depends on the type and cause of hair loss.

So rather than asking: “Is QR 678 better than PRP?”

A more useful question is: “Which treatment is appropriate for my type of hair loss?”

What About QR 678 for Women With PCOS?

There is also published research specifically examining QR 678/QR 678 Neo in women with female pattern hair loss and PCOS. To understand how hormonal fluctuations impact follicular health, read our guide on PCOS and hormonal hair loss.

One prospective study included 20 women with PCOS and female pattern alopecia and reported improvements in photographic and microscopic hair measures following treatment.

This is interesting evidence, but it was a small prospective study.

It shouldn't be interpreted as proof that QR 678 is necessary or appropriate for every woman with PCOS-related hair loss.

Diagnosis still comes first.

Who Might Be Considered for QR 678?

Suitability depends on the diagnosis.

A dermatologist may consider injectable or growth-factor-based approaches for selected patients with certain forms of hair loss.

The treatment decision may depend on:

  • Type of alopecia
  • Severity
  • Duration
  • Age
  • Medical history
  • Previous treatments
  • Pattern of hair loss
  • Underlying hormonal or medical contributors

Not every type of hair loss is appropriate for the same procedure.

Why Diagnosis Comes Before QR 678

Imagine treating hair loss without knowing what is causing it. This is why finding the root cause of hair loss is the single most critical step before starting any procedural therapy.

If the problem is nutritional deficiency, thyroid disease, an inflammatory scalp condition or another medical issue, simply adding an injection may not address the underlying problem.

Dermatologists typically begin by taking a detailed history and examining the scalp. Depending on the suspected cause, blood tests or other investigations may sometimes be appropriate.

QR 678 Is Not a Magic Injection

This may be the most important takeaway.

QR 678 is an emerging treatment option with published clinical research behind it.

But it isn't a universal cure for hair loss.

It also shouldn't be presented as automatically superior to every other treatment.

The most credible approach is to understand:

Diagnosis Suitability Treatment Follow-up

Rather than: Hair loss → injection.
